The best of Cornish Food
There is plenty to taste in Cornwall, pasties, cream tea and of course the amazing local seafood! If you fancy heading out for some great food, here is a list of our favourite places...
Wreckers is a Restaurant/Cafe/Bistro, serving British cuisine and specialising in local seafood. The food here is excellent, mid-priced with decent portions so offers good value. They are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
It is situated right by the Harbour, has a great terrace and the inside decor is nice and stylish. The staff are friendly and professional. Reservations are strongly advised for the weekends and in high season.
To get here from Rockleigh, it's an 7 minute drive to Charlestown where there is a car park and then a minute walk to the restaurant.
Sam's on the Beach is a US-style bistro and fish specialist situated in an former lifeboat station with harbour views. It has an open kitchen so yo can see all the action. It's mid-priced and the food is of high quality.
This place is very casual and relaxed with lovely, friendly staff and a nice atmosphere.
It can get pretty busy in the high season so booking is advisable.
Kingswood Bar and Restaurant

Kingswood is an elegant restaurant with a great menu (creative vegetarian options too!). It is mid to high price range but the portions are good and the the food is delicious.
It is quite a large restaurant but has a nice, relaxed atmosphere and the staff are great. It is very child friendly and so great for families.
It takes 11 minutes to drive here from Rockleigh Place. The restaurant can only reasonably be accessed by car but there is plenty of free parking on site.
The Carclaze

The Carclaze is a casual Pub / Restaurant adjacent to a Premier Inn in Carclaze. While it serves just simple pub food it offers great value and a nice atmosphere. The decor is very pleasant and there are is plenty of outdoor seating areas
It is great for some cosy pub food and local ales and there is also live music on some weekends.
The Carclaze is within 15 minutes walking distance from Rockleigh or only 2 minutes by car with free parking.
The Hick's Bar
63 Trevarthian Rd, Saint Austell PL25 4BY
Hick's Bar is part of St Austell Brewery and is great for Lunch or breakfast, it is only open from 9.00am -5.00pm.
It is has great decor and excellent food and of course you get to try the amazing St Austell ale. You can just visit the bar or combine it with a trip to the Brewery and the shop.
It's 20 minutes walking distance from Rockleigh or a couple of minutes by car .
A traditional pub with a separate restaurant.
The traditional pub has a cosy atmosphere with fireplaces and nice seating areas. The restaurant has a good menu and is good value. There is also a garden and outdoor seating.
4 minutes drive away from Rockleigh with ample parking.
Knightor is a winery producing premium quality, limited production wines but it also has an excellent restaurant, you just need to ensure you check the opening times.
They serve lunches on Sundays 12pm-3pm as well as some weekdays and hold feast night on select days (normally Fridays). Check the website as they are sometimes closed for private functions.
The food is excellent and the place is great if you fancy something a bit different. You can combine your lunch with a winery tour and some wine tasting.
