I’ve posted about the stunning Caerhays Estate but this time I want to focus on Caerhays beach. This place is great for many reasons but the main ones for me are:
- the car park is right next to the beach
- there is a toilet and a very nice cafe (only open during season)
- its spacious with soft sand and low waves
- when there is a surf is uniform and low , great for beginner surfing or body boarding
- there are nice trails nearby
When to visit
Any time of the year is nice for the beach or trails. The cafe is only open during season and the Caerhays Castle and Gardens are only open to the public a few months a year (normally in the spring). There are two spacious car parks so finding a space is not normally a problem.
What to do there
When the tide is out (always a good idea to check ahead!) the beach is very spacious and is great for beach games and walks. The water is normally calm, if there are waves they are usually not too high and quite uniform. When its wavy the beach is great for surfing, body boarding or stand up paddling. The coastal trails on either side have wonderful views and pass through small coves and lovely countryside.
Useful Tips
- During peak season, the beach can get quite busy , especially if the tide is in and the beach is smaller
- Off-season the cafe is closed so be sure to bring your own refreshments
- The public toilet is open all year round
- Parking is paid for all year round
