Dramatic sea views, rock stacks, clifftop walks and hidden coves all make this place a paradise for coastal walks lovers. Bedruthan is a popular destination, situated between Padstow and Newquay. It is easily reached by car from Rockleigh and takes around half an hour.
What to do there:
Walk, take in the stunning views and breathe the fresh air! The best way to enjoy this place is to drive to the main car park (navigate to Carnewas at Bedruthan, you can’t miss it) and from there walk the well laid out and established trails. It’s worth spending a 2-3 hours here to really explore the coastline. At low tide you can climb down some pretty steep steps and walk amid the huge rock stacks. Remember to wear suitable footwear, wrap up warm and don’t forget your camera!
Autumn/Winter are great seasons to visit this place as there will be few other visitors so you will feel like you have the place to yourself. Check the tide times as this place completely transforms when the tide is out.
Opening times
The trails are open dawn until dusk all year around, although the cosy tea-room will be closed after 31 October and re-open in February. If you are visiting in the quiet season its a good idea to bring some packed lunch or snacks with you, although it won’t be an issue finding a pub or a fish and chips cafe in a nearby town. The staircase leading down to one of the coves is also closed after 31 October, however this won’t stop you from enjoying the beautiful coastline views along the trails.
