This is a truly magical walk on the South West Coast path. Starting from the Venn Down, the river Trevillet has carved a masterpiece from the rocks at St Nectan’s Glen waterfall. More info about visiting the waterfall here.
St Nectans Glen is a good place to start the walk, although it can be done in reverse from the coast. The path leads down towards the coast through nice woodland where you will pass the ruins of a medieval mill, where the carvings on the rock-face are said to be almost 4000 years old!
Finally the path will lead you to the dramatic valley called Rocky valley. The dark, rugged rockface together with the rough sea will take your breath away.
Practical information
Parking is available near St Nectan’s Glenn. This place is great to visit any time of the year, its particularly dramatic in the winter and you will have the place practically to yourself. St Nectans Glen waterfall has a small entrance fee and is open all year round, although it is advisable to check opening times. This route is mostly surrounded by nature so its a good idea to bring drinks and food with you. After heavy rain the forest trails can get quite muddy so make sure you have proper footwear. the trail is fairly easy foo all abilities.
